When is CranioSacral Therapy Needed?

back to Kathryn McCarthy MS OTR/L homepage

The craniosacral system, which includes the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround the brain and spinal cord, extends from the bones of the head and face down to the tailbone. This system connects with every part of the body—nerves, muscles, organs, and the respiratory, circulatory and digestive systems.

Trauma during the birth process (both to the mother and the child), chronic and repetitive stress, emotional events, and physical injury can cause restrictions within the craniosacral system. These restrictions can negatively impact both our physical and emotional health.
